Stop blinding. Start guiding.
The standard landscape lighting is invasive. It treats the nightscape as a stadium to be flooded—ignoring the fact that a migrating bird is disoriented by the same 4000K floodlight that illuminates your driveway. This indiscriminate brightness disrupts circadian rhythms and severs the biological function of your garden after dark.
True ecological resilience requires shadow. It requires treating darkness as a finite structural element, delivering light only where necessary for human safety while protecting the Zero-Lumen Zones required for wildlife passage.
The Service: We analyze your specific site layout to create a Nocturnal Habitat Strategy— a bespoke photobiological design that groups light by navigational need rather than aesthetic excess.
The Photobiological Difference:
-
The Spectrum (Warmth-Only Protocol): We specify exclusively 2700K (Warm White) and Amber-spectrum fixtures. We protect the navigational instincts of pollinators by banning blue-rich spectrums that trigger flight-to-light responses.
-
The Zoning (Targeted Illumination): We replace floodlights with precision down-lighting. We design Navigational Paths for you and critical Zero-Lumen Zones for wildlife, treating shadow as a primary design element.
-
The Standard (Safety & Compliance): We provide a construction-ready directive for your Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC), attempting adherence to regional Electrical Safety Codes while minimizing light trespass.
What You Receive (The Deliverable):
You are not just buying a lighting plan; you are buying a preservation strategy. Your Nocturnal Habitat Strategy PDF includes:
-
Strategic Zoning Map: A precise layout diagram defining Navigational Paths, Social Canopies (Festoon lighting), and biological sanctuaries.
-
Tender-Ready Specifications: A complete Fixture Schedule (Shopping List) with specific model requirements—from brass path lights to motion-activated security—saving you hours of research and preventing contractor substitutions.
-
Installation Directive: A strict technical guide for your electrician to ensure fixture placement respects the Dark Sky framework.
Technical Scope & Mechanical Limitations:
-
Exclusion of Trade Work: This service is a design and planning protocol only. It does not include physical installation, wire running, or transformer commissioning. All high-voltage (e.g., 120 V) connections and hard-wired transformer installations must be executed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC) in accordance with the regional Electrical Safety Codes.
-
Subsurface Liability: The Steward is solely responsible for identifying and marking all underground utilities (gas, water, electric, and irrigation lines) prior to any trenching for wire paths. We strongly recommend using a Call Before You Dig service. Avishan Garden is not liable for damage to underground infrastructure or severed communication cables during the installation process
- Frost Heave & Fixture Integrity: landscape lighting in the Temperate and Continental biomes is subject to freeze-thaw cycles. Failure to check and reset ground stakes after the spring thaw may result in tilted fixtures or wire strain. Avishan Garden assumes no liability for equipment misalignment caused by frost heave, or for corrosion resulting from the application of de-icing salts near path lights.
Support the Mission. Proceeds from this purchase directly fund the Avishan Cultivator Grant, a financial initiative empowering emerging horticulturists to engineer local resilience and launch community stewardship projects across the Temperate and Continental biomes.
Invest in Your Baseline, Invest in the Community. By purchasing this protocol, you are not only securing a professional sanctuary plan for your own property but also seeding the next generation of ecological design.
